A collision of real world, physical gaming, with digital gaming as desktop tabletop RPGs meet NFTs in The Glimmering. Join us with guests Stephen Radney-MacFarland, Lead Game Designer and Brent McCrossen, CEO of GRIPNR in Episode #187 of The Nifty Show.

The Glimmering is a new 5e campaign designed to preserve the magic of classic tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs) while innovating the player experience. The adventure expands beyond the traditional gaming world and onto the blockchain.

The Glimmering is also a gate to another plane. A place of darkness, terror, and strange vistas. It is home to otherworldly creatures that you must rally to fight as you rise through the Moonstone Empire and make history for the ages.

The Glimmering is the brainchild of the team at GRIPNR, a Web3 technology company founded by data geeks, artists, game designers, musicians, NFT collectors, and TTRPG fanatics who are crazy enough to do this. Learn more about us and why we believe transparency is the key to building a thriving community.

Stephen Radney-MacFarland Lead Game Designer
A life-long RPG enthusiast, I began working on tabletop roleplaying games professionally in 2000, when I became the RPGA editorial assistant at Wizards of the Coast, working on Polyhedron magazine and Living Greyhawk Journal. Over the years, I’ve administered the Living Greyhawk campaign, aided in the development of the D&D 3.5 Edition rules, was a developer for D&D 4th Edition and Star Wars Saga Edition, taught numerous game design classes in the Seattle area, and contributed to the Pathfinder RPG Advanced Player’s Guide and Ultimate Magic as a freelance designer. I joined the Paizo team in 2010, where I was the senior designer for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, managing and contributing to a stack of Pathfinder First Edition core books, the Starfinder Roleplaying game, and Pathfinder Second Edition. Late last year, I joined GRIPNR as the Lead Game Designer of this exciting project.
